Ignite Guidelines

Ignite sessions are 2 minutes presentation no questions (these are saved for the poster session time)

EMBC 2017 – Presentation Format for Ignite and Poster Sessions

In EMBC 2017, all poster presentations will have an oral component. All posters assigned for a given day will be on display for the full day. So poster presenters have to hang their posters in the morning. You will need to hang your poster up the day of your IGNITE session as this is your scheduled poster session.

A handout will be provided on-site listing the location of your poster board for your paper.

From 16:10 to 17:10, there will be multiple parallel IGNITE sessions where poster presenters will have the opportunity to present their poster papers for 2 minutes, explaining the important part of your work. To be able to present orally your work in an IGNITE session, you must pre-upload your slide according to the instructions by the deadline 12:00 PM (GMT) on Sunday, 9th July. Please include in the slide ONLY the major contribution of your work, in a simple manner, to capture the interest of the audience. The slide should answer the following: what is the problem, why is it important, how you did it, and what are the major result and conclusion. The sample presentations can be viewed HERE. The presentation should include at most 4 slides. After the IGNITE session, poster presenters will have to go to the poster hall and stand by their posters starting at 17:20. This presence is mandatory, and there will be finger food in the poster hall to create exciting and productive atmosphere of scientific interchange.

VERY IMPORTANT: if you want to take advantage of presenting your summary slide in the IGNITE session, you MUST pre-upload your slide using the embc2017upload.com. See more information. Authors who will not pre-upload their slide according to the instructions by the deadline will indirectly forego their chance of participating in the IGNITE session. We are sorry to impose this requirement, but each speaker will have only 2 minutes to present, therefore, all the slides will have to be automatically pre-downloaded to each room computer before the session and the presentation will run automatically in the computer without the presenter’s intervention to save time between presentations. Don’t lose the chance of presenting orally your poster in the IGNITE session.

SUGGESTION! Operating system of every computer in Session room is Microsoft Windows. There will be only two Apple Mac computers for emergency. However, participants will have VERY LIMITED access to Mac computers. Thus, we strongly ENCOURAGE participants to use PPT or PDF format when they upload their presentation.

Participants who use “Keynote” should be aware of changing the format into PPT or PDF.

If you are a Prezi user make a portable prezi and upload the entire zip file. Here is a link to the Prezi site if you do not know how to do this:  https://prezi.com/support/article/sharing/download-a-portable-prezi

In Mac computers, Prezi files are saved as .zip file. If you are using Mac, make sure that you save Prezi file as .exe file. Prezi files MUST be saved as .exe file. Otherwise, you may have problems when you are presenting.
