As a non-profit association, IEEE and EMBS are organizations led primarily by the efforts of volunteer contributors. Each year, at the Annual EMB Conference, the conference organizers look to recruit student attendees to support in the execution of the conference.
Volunteer efforts include, but are not limited to, supporting participant check in, directing participants to sessions and workshops, and prepare and distribute conference materials.
In order to be eligible for student volunteer positions, one need only be registered to attend the conference and pay a student registration rate. (*You must be registered at a student rate to be eligible)
Student participants who register to be included in the student volunteer program, and complete 8 full volunteer hours (* Two 4 hour shifts or One 8 hour shift) will be refunded his or her admission fee to the conference.
Please note:
- No Cash Refunds will be issued
- All refunds will be issued to the original method of payment
- All refunds will be no less than 30 business days after the final day of the conference
- Only the student registration fee will be reimbursed to qualified student volunteers; Workshop Fees, Social Event Tickets, Paper Submission Fees, Over length page charges are not refundable.
Shift offerings will be as early as the morning of Monday, July 16th through the afternoon of Saturday, July 21st, 2018. Preferences for shifts will be honored on a first come first serve basis. Please be mindful of your travel arrangements before completing your application and providing preferences for shifts. Failure to complete committed volunteer hours will result in you not receiving your refund.
**Special Note to Student Authors:
If you are an author of a paper included in the conference proceeding the conference program team will assign a presentation type, and a date and time for which your paper will be scheduled for presentation. Our team is aware that this may create conflicts in your ability to provide a shift preference. We ask that you provide all availability based upon your travel arrangements, and provide your paper submission number so those working to assign shifts can make an effort to accommodate. We cannot guarantee an accommodation or that shifts will be available that do not conflict your presentations.
