EMBC 2016 – Novel Presentation Format for Poster Sessions
In EMBC 2016 all poster presentations will have an oral component. The conference afternoon sessions will be concentrated on posters. All posters assigned for a given day will be on display for the full day. So poster presenters have to hang their posters in the morning between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. You will need to hang your poster up the day of your IGNITE session as this is your scheduled poster session.
A handout will be provided on-site listing the location of your poster board for your paper.
Following the afternoon keynote and Symposia sessions, there will be a new IGNITE session where poster presenters will have the opportunity to present ONE SLIDE for 2 minutes, explaining the important part of your work. In order to be able to present orally your work in an IGNITE session, you must pre upload your slide according to the instructions by the deadline (further details will follow soon). Please include in the slide ONLY the major contribution of your work, in a simple manner, to capture the interest of the audience. The slide should answer the following: what is the problem, why is it important, how you did it, and what are the major result and conclusion. The slide format can be found HERE. After the IGNITE session, poster presenters will have to go to the poster hall and stand by their posters starting at 17:00 (5:00 PM). This presence is mandatory, and there will be finger food in the poster hall to create and exciting and productive atmosphere of scientific interchange.
VERY IMPORTANT: if you want to take advantage of presenting your summary slide in the IGNITE session you MUST pre-upload your slide before the 8th August using the online submission site. Authors who will not pre upload their slide according to the instructions by the deadline will indirectly forego their chance of participating in the IGNITE session (no exceptions). We are sorry to impose this requirement, but each speaker will only have 2 minutes to present, therefore, all the slides will have to be automatically pre downloaded to each room computer before the session and the presentation will run automatically in the computer without the presenter’s intervention to save time between presentations.
Again, unlike previous EMBCs, the afternoon conference will be dedicated to the posters with a combination of IGNITE sessions followed by the poster discussions. So don’t lose the chance of presenting orally your poster in the IGNITE sessions.
